Local Libations
Craft breweries, wineries, & distilleries
With an abundance of local food producers, farmers and fishermen, there are many ways to enjoy local cuisine and small scale beverage producers in the region.
Beach Fire Brewing & Nosh House brings craft beer and innovative cuisine to the city; offering a relaxed, open environment to meet old and new friends.
South of town along Highway 19A is Shelter Point Distillery, where spirits like whisky and vodka are distilled using only a single grain – barley – to create their unique flavours. Shelter Point’s spirits are distilled in small batches right here on the idyllic shores of Vancouver Island.
Heading further south down Highway 19A, you will find both Coastal Black Estate Winery and 40 Knots Vineyard. Visit Coastal Black’s Pumpkin Festival in October, or tour the cellars at 40 Knots, followed by a picnic lunch. Offering award-winning wines, a visit to these estates and their tasting rooms will be a memorable west-coast experience.
Hop on the ferry to Quadra Island to visit SouthEnd Farm Winery and check out their newest project, ClearCut Distilling.
