Whether you’re with your date, lover, spouse, partner, forever person, or you’re at the ‘we’re not labelling it yet’ phase, Campbell River’s historic old-growth forests and bounty of trails and hikes will have you ‘negotiating’ where to go first. For tall tree adventures, we suggest Elk Falls Provincial Park or the Beaver Lodge Lands. Looking for that hike where you might curse at some point, but will rejoice at the top, then the Ripple Rock Trail could be for you. Pour and Savour, You’re on Holiday!

Take a tour and tasting at Shelter Point Distillery just south of town. Copper kasks and with rolling farmland outdoors makes this destination a must-do. You’ll learn a few facts that you may not know about the Island while also figuring out who’s the shot of whiskey in your partnership. If you’re more the craft beer enthusiasts grab a flight at Beach Fire Brewing and Nosh House downtown. Tapas featuring local ingredients paired with unique libations are sure to keep the conversation flowing.

Don’t Get Hangry!

Campbell River has unique and varied restaurants overlooking the water or tucked away. The Angler’s Dining Room at Dolphins Resort is renowned for its rustic cabin design and intimate ambiance, not to mention their Insta-worthy Eggs Benny. For dinner try out the Harbour Grill or Quay West Kitchen for great food and spectacular views. Just remember to make reservations! Looking for something a bit more lowkey, but still lots of flavour, we recommend Honey Lemon Grill, Wasabiya (sushi) or get some take away from Shot in the Dark and head to the waterfront for a rustic outdoor dining experience.

Sunset Walks

Campbell River’s coastline has stunning panoramic views, where the beaches go for miles. Soak in every bit of the day and stroll along at sunset either on the Rotary Sea Walk or pop out to Saratoga Beach, be sure to plan and bring a thermos (your choice what you fill it with) along with some snacks for an impromptu picnic that will cap the day off right. Not your speed, take in some of the Rotary Sea Walk and set up a game of bocce at Rotary Park.

Evening Beach Fire

Forget Netflix and chill,  it’s time for one or both of you to put your skills to work and set up a beach fire for two. We suggest Ken Ford Beach Park at the south end of Campbell River for incredible mountain views. Make sure to bring blankets and all the fixins for smores. Once you have the fire going with the ocean in the back drop, you’ll lose track of time and may not want to leave.


Flightseeing With Your Love

For those looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, we suggest Air Nootka’s float plane package to Hot Springs Cove on the west coast of Vancouver Island; Or take in the historic mail flight with Corilair, looking for mountain views as far as the eye can see and stepping foot on mountain tops, then a helicopter trip may be in your future with 49 Helicopters. You’re taking this relationship to all sorts of heights, be sure to get take it all in embrace the experience together. Bonus points for anyone who throws the first Top Gun reference out there.


Ride It Like You Own It

Bike rentals are available at Pedal Your World or Swicked Cycles if you don’t have your own. You have endless options here, you can bike along the Rotary Seawalk. This 6.2-kilometre paved path offers stunning ocean views that set a laid back pace. Or go into Beaver Lodge Lands. Have your own bikes, Snowden Forest Trails could be a good fit for you. All that riding can work up a thirst, Beach Fire Brewing & Nosh House is bike friendly, has an outdoor patio and can accommodate your needs #sothirsty.

Ready to hit the road? Or book that flight? You can fly into Comox Airport and be in downtown Campbell River within 45 minutes. That’s winning in our books.

If you’re not really the planning type, don’t sweat it. (We do recommend at least planning where you’ll sleep, in the high season you want to make sure you’re booked in somewhere.)
