Day One

Breakfast with a View 

Start your day off with a breakfast with a view at Dolphins Resort, enjoy your eggs benny on their outdoor patio, while admiring the views keep an eye out for any whales that may be passing by. After you’ve had your fill head into town and visit the Museum at Campbell River to learn about the areas rich Indigenous culture and the cities industrial roots in fishing and logging, while there take in the historic film detailing the Ripple Rock Explosion. There’s nothing better than learning and growing together, this visit will give you a solid foundation on which to build the rest of your trip!

Aerial Adventure

Take to the skies for an unforgettable heli-tour of the region with 49 North Helicopters. Take your pick of adventures everything is on offer from short tours of the city to exploring glaciers on the coastal mountain range. For this trip, we recommend doing a flyover of Desolation Sound to take in the discovery islands, coastal mountains and remote inlets from above. This adventure is guaranteed to take your love to new heights!

Explore The Coast 

Solid ground is overrated. Get onto the water with a wildlife tour, learn about Discovery Passage with experienced naturalists onboard Discovery Marine Safaris, as you cruise through the Discovery Passage you’re sure to get a new perspective on what you just saw from above. Look for orca’s, humpbacks, Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, Dahls Porpoises, bald eagles, seals, and sea lions. In addition to the wildlife, the waters surrounding Campbell River are chock full of diverse landscapes and ecosystems, as you search for wildlife your boat will take you through the Discovery Islands where you can view tidal rapids, coastal waterfalls, remote inlets all backdropped against the Coastal Mountain Range. Campbell River Whale Watching runs rapid trips in addition to their wildlife viewing, and as the tides permit they’re able to provide you with an option to get into the rapid experience with full options to get wet or stay dry.

Day Two

Cast Your Lines

Kick off day two bright and early with a fishing excursion with Coastal Wilderness Adventures. Whether you are a complete novice or experienced fishermen their experienced guides will provide you with a day full of laughs and adventure. Have your pick of a saltwater adventure where you will cast your lines for not only salmon but also lingcod and rock cod, as well as drop traps for prawns and crabs. Or try your hand at fly fishing on the river, or looking for trout on one of our many lakes. Whatever you chose fishing here will leave you and your partner with fond memories and maybe even a few new party stories to break out at your next dinner party.

Kick Back With a Pint 

After your day of fishing head over the Beachfire Brewing and Nosh House for a nice cold pint of locally brewed beer. If you can’t pick just one try one of their tasting flights and have the best of both worlds! Re-connect and re-cap with your partner over one of their share plates or mix with the locals at one of the long wood tables over a game of trivial pursuit. The social and relaxing atmosphere is the perfect way to unwind and trade stories of the past days’ adventures.

Paddle and Pizza

Spend the evening paddling the calm waters of the Campbell River estuary with Island Joy Ride’s experienced and knowledgeable guides. The estuary is where fresh and salt water meet, creating a unique eco-system that is home to a variety of birds including bald eagles and blue herons. After your paddle through the secret channels and waterways, join your hosts for fresh homemade artisan pizza in their outdoor dining area, the River Room, the spread of good food coupled with the beautiful setting will get the laughter and stories flowing.

Relax by the Sea

Stay the night oceanside at the Driftwood by the Sea Inn and RV Resort in one of their cozy one bedroom cottages. Borrow one of their campfire beach buckets from the office complete with Wine Glasses, Corkscrew, Kindling, Matches, Roasting Sticks and a Blanket. Roast marshmallows and warm yourselves by the fire as you watch the sun disappear behind the mountains. Or if you’re up for it, talk a walk along the Rotary Seawalk which is located just across the street from your cottage. As you stroll along, look out for the two driftwood creations placed along the path as well as the chainsaw carvings that are done each year as part of the Transformations on the Shores Festival. Take this time to reflect on the trip and the new experiences and memories you’ve made as a couple.
