Five Ways to Celebrate Canada Day Campbell River Style

1. Party Downtown!

Campbell River throws a huge Canada Day party downtown each year! Mix and mingle with the locals at the downtown market, take in live music at Spirit square and finish off your day with the firework show on the foreshore. Campbell River puts on one of the largest shows on the Island. Watching the fireworks illuminate the night sky over the Discovery Passage is truly an unforgettable experience!

2.Escape the Crowds

Spend Canada Day appreciating the natural beauty and wonder of Campbell River and Region. Head out to Strathcona Provincial Park for a day of adventure and waterfall chasing. Make sure to hit Lower Myra Falls while you’re out there! Bonus points if you can snap a pic with the Canadian flag while you’re adventuring!

3.Cruise the Discovery Passage

Get the best seat in the house for the fireworks on a evening wildlife tour with Eagle Eye Adventures. Cruise around the Discovery passage at sunset and take in the stunning coastal scenery. The tour culminates with watching the fireworks explode overhead. These tours book up fast so make sure to reserve your seat ASAP!  If you can’t get on a boat head over to the Discovery Pier or Robert Ostler Park to watch the show!

4. Immerse Yourself in Local History

Celebrate Canada Day by getting acquainted with our local history. Between 12pm-2pm the Museum at Campbell River will be firing up their steam donkey. Logging is an integral part of our community’s history and machines like this were used for yarding, hauling and loading logs. While there be sure to check out their 60th anniversary display!

5. Sip and savour

Try a local favourite at the Discovery Pier, their giant ice cream cones are the ideal way to treat yourself on Canada’s Birthday. Between 9am-12pm Bring your kids along to participate in the Huck Finn Small Fry Fishing Derby. Once you’re finished at the Pier head to Beachfire Brewing and Nosh House for some local craft beer, or relax on Quay West’s seaside patio.
