Snow sports in Campbell River

MOUNTAIN LIFE

Mountains close to Campbell River & Region are not just about great ski slopes in winter, they are becoming year round attractions! Enjoy active adventure through a myriad of activities at Mount Cain and Mount Washington. Snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing and snowmobiling to name a few. No matter what time of year, the opportunities for free exploration in world class surroundings await.

Mount Washington is typically blessed with the West Coast’s first snowfalls of the year, and the white stuff keeps falling in immense heaps throughout the season. The wet and windy conditions that mark storm-watching season on Vancouver Island’s west coast reliably turn to snow as these Pacific ocean weather systems meet the colder air of the Beaufort Range. Result: World-class powder conditions for all levels and styles of alpine enthusiast.

Once the snow melts, summertime activities come alive at the resort. The Eagle chairlift speeds groups far up the mountainside. Linger to enjoy the spectacular views or head back down to play disc golf or mini golf with the whole family, or soar on the bungee trampoline. Head out on a hiking trip into Strathcona Park, with options from an easy stroll on the boardwalks of the aptly named Paradise Meadows or set out farther afield through rugged sub-alpine forests and crystal-clear lakes and the breathtaking sight of Mount Albert Edward towering above.

A great choice of chalet and condo accommodations – including ski-in / ski-out lodgings – allow groups to relax into their home-away-from-home after an active day on the slopes. Book lodgings during the summer and use Mount Washington as an alpine base for exploratory drives in the Comox Valley and north to the Campbell River region for wildlife watching tours, kayaking, golf and fishing adventures.

Spend time with family and friends in one of the world’s best getaways.
