Discovery Pier
A Wonderful Year-Round Experience
Fish from the pier and enjoy the coastal views of Discovery Passage from this iconic landmark loved by both locals and visitors.
Saltwater Fishing Pier
Located in Downtown Campbell River
Experience living history and culture at Canada’s first saltwater fishing pier. The Discovery Fishing Pier extends 150 ft from shore and is 600 ft long, allowing for unobstructed views of the Discovery Passage. It’s a local icon and the perfect location for sunset photos, with the opportunity to see whales or dolphins in the distance.
The Experience
What You Can Expect
A favourite spot with local anglers, the pier provides easy access to recreational fishing. It has built-in rod holders, bait stands, fish cleaning tables, covered areas, picnic tables and benches. No rod? No problem. The seasonal concession stand (open May-October) provides rod and tackle rentals.
The staff run a leaderboard in the summer months and track all the catches made off the pier. See if you can make the board! Aside from fishing, the concession stand is also famous for its delicious (and giant) ice cream cones.
The Discovery Pier is located beside the Government Wharf in downtown Campbell River and shares a parking lot with the Discovery Passage Aquarium and Maritime Heritage Centre.
