Land & Sea @ The Tidemark Art Gallery

& is an art exhibition featuring paintings, drawings and other media by Comox Valley based artists TaraLee Houston and Sarah Bergeron. The works being showcased are all inspired by the beauty and nature of the West Coast. By exhibiting together, TaraLee and Sarah seek to hold a dialogue between their work showing the ways in which each artist interprets and connects to the natural surroundings on Vancouver Island.

Sarah and TaraLee are graduates of both the North Island College Fine Arts Diploma Program and the Emily Carr University of Art & Design Bachelor Degree Program. The artists met at North Island College in 2013 when they both volunteered to manage food and beverage for a student Art Event. Since then they have collaborated on numerous art projects and exhibitions both inside and outside of the classroom.

During their studies, and continuing on through their professional art practices, both artists continued to create work inspired by the West Coast environment. Sarah was born and raised on the island and will forever call it home. After visiting for years, TaraLee and her family moved here in 2013 to their forever home, after being called here by the natural beauty of the landscape.

The artists hope this exhibition gives the viewers an opportunity to reflect on their own connection to their natural surroundings, reaffirming a love we all share for the area.

The Tidemark Art Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday from 12-4pm. Admission is FREE and everyone is welcome.
