Up and at ‘em!

Start off before daybreak, with a pre-dawn helicopter ride with 49 North Helicopters. Set those phones to silent, pack a thermos of coffee, and take in your surroundings as the sun reveals mountains on mountains on mountains. Early mornings may not be your thing, but seeing the excitement of your friends will be contagious and there will always be more coffee. Truck, tunes, a destination in mind, and good company. It’s time to hit the trails and stretch your legs in Strathcona Provincial Park, B.C’s oldest provincial park. Hunger is calling too!

Granola bars will only get you so far. And why settle for snacks when you could be chowing down on fresh out of the water seafood? Head on down to the Discovery Fishing Pier for a drool-worthy lunch at Crabby Bobs. Your stomach will guide you, but if you’re in doubt ask the local crab wranglers and fishmongers for their expert recommendations.

Time to get on a boat

When the toughest decision of the day is ‘where do we want to explore by boat?’ you know you’re in the right place. Hire a local guide to show you the surrounding areas within the Discovery Passage. Ready to try your luck and put out some gear? Your local guide will be able to provide you with an experience you won’t soon forget. Another option is to take the ferry to nearby Quadra Island. There really isn’t a bad decision in this scenario. Let the waves and wind guide you. Remember to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins and eagles. Such is the thrill of the wild, west coast.
