For Summer and Fall 2019 Destination Campbell River is bringing warm smiles, fireside comforts and toasty treats to local events and venues around town. The Beach Fire Sessions are the place for visitors and locals alike to connect in an inviting environment. And what’s more welcoming than a beach fire?

What is a beach fire session?
The Campbell River Beach Fire Experience
The Beach Fire Sessions will serve as a gathering place for visitors and locals to unplug, connect and share stories in an unexpected yet welcoming way. What better way to meet new people than around a fire? Mounted on our Beachfire-Mobile (“Toasty”), we’re providing an atmosphere on wheels that can appear at a moments notice to bring warm welcoming vibes wherever people are congregating. Our fire-stokers will have games, prizes and local information on hand to help you get the most out of your time in Campbell River!

The Ultimate Campbell River Playlist Contest – we’re crafting the ultimate CR Playlist and we need your help. A little bit salty, a touch of Canadiana, and some roadtrip anthems. Contribute your songs to build the list, creating a sonic calling card for guests and locals alike.
The Campbell River Crab Toss!
Answer a quick survey to qualify and play the Campbell River Crab Toss for prizes! Contribute up to 3 suggestions for the CR Playlist to earn your turn! The #DiscoveryDerby Fish pond may be on hand at some events too!

Campbell River Art’s on a Roll! Toasty the Beach Fire Mobile was an aesthetic hit this summer as an immersive art cornerstone for the CR Beach Fire Sessions; a series of events that brought the warm vibes of an iconic Campbell Beach fire to the heart of the city. Toasty transported Alex Whitcombe’s “Fergus the Fox” along with a whole school of craft aquatic critters by Mary Walker. Watch for Toasty and the Destination Campbell River team at the following Art and Earth Festival events. We will be popping by with warm vibes, fun games and tasty treats. Make a plan to join us!
1:00-2:30- Elk Falls Day Use Area.
3:00-4:00- Discovery Pier
5:30-7:00pm – Discovery Harbour Marina
12:15 pm-1:30 pm: “Live Art Creation” with Plein Air Painters on Seawalk at FoggDukkers (weather permitting).
1:45-3 pm: Driftwood Sculpture, with Alex Witcombe of Drifted Creations, Walter Morgan Studio.
3:30 pm-5 pm: CR Art Gallery Opening “Rest Area & Crummy Gallery” with Cedric, Jim & Nathan Bomford, Gallery & Spirit Square
11am-3pm: Fall Festival at Haig Brown
Local Celebrity Guest
Fergus the Fox will be hanging out with Toasty for the rest of the summer. Come visit us roast a marshmellow and get your picture taken with Fergus. Alex Whitcombe’s drifted creations can be found throughout the city and finding them has become a favourite local pastime. You can find out more about his creations here.

Campbell River is fortunate to have an active Recreation & Culture department and a friendly and welcoming downtown business community. The Beach Fire Sessions will add some cozy ambience at the City’s popular CR Live Streets and Thursday Night Music events, plus a couple of pop up surprises in store this summer. Come say hi, you never know when there will be surprise guest speakers, musicians and additional prizes on hand!
