Places to Take Epic Engagement Photos

The pressure of the big day can get to you, whether you’re single or loved up.  And let’s be honest there are better holidays, Thanksgiving, Pancake Day, Grilled Cheese day, or our birthdays.  And while we’re planning to spend this particular day, drinking craft beer, snacking on smoked fish, reflecting on our life decisions and scrolling through the internet. We thought maybe we’d pop something up for you to scroll through, perhaps we can’t change your mind about this holiday, but maybe we can get you to look at Campbell River in a whole new light.

While Campbell River may not be Paris on Valentine’s day, this little city can deliver romance to those that want to connect and slow down. A town nestled in stunning scenery creates a natural backdrop for romantic adventurers. Surrounded by beaches, lakes and mountains, this is the place to snap some unforgettable pics! Mountain Top with 49 North Helicopters

Elk Falls Suspension Bridge

The Elk Falls Suspension Bridge is an iconic Campbell River landmark for a reason. The deep canyon, mossy trees and waterfall will make for the perfect backdrop to your proposal. As Bonus, it’s close to town, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy a romantic waterfront stroll and dinner at Harbour Grill or try CR’s newest fine dining restaurant OX.

Saratoga Beach

Saratoga Beach offers sandy shores and beautiful views of the coastal mountain range. A romantic walk at sunset backdropped by pink skies and snow-capped mountains is the perfect spot for engagement photos. After all, is said and done, start and a beach fire and cozy up with some marshmallows.

Paradise Meadows

Paradise Meadows is a 45-minute drive south of Campbell River, winter or summer the meadows are a great spot to declare your love. In the winter months, snowshoeing is a great way to explore the area. Or in the winter months take your photos on the endless boardwalks surrounded by alpine flowers.

The discovery fishing Pier

The Discovery Fishing Pier is another iconic Campbell River location. A perfect spot for avid fishers and ocean lovers. You can take photos on the boardwalk all backdropped by the Discovery Passage and Quadra Island. Bonus points if it’s summer and you get a giant ice cream cone to share!

8) Lower Myra Falls

Strathcona Park is full of romantic spots to get snap some engagement pics. Lower Myra Falls is a great spot to get down on one knee. Located about 1.5hrs west of Campbell River, this dramatic waterfall cascades all the way down to Buttle Lake; the rocky outcroppings provide a great spot to capture your special moment against the backdrop of the mighty waterfall.

9) On the Lake 

There is an extensive network of lakes in the Campbell River Region, take an adventure on the backroads (with your backroads map book) and find a secret spot just for the two of you. Take a paddle or enjoy the shores. Some of our favourite lakes are Mohun, this long lake stays relatively calm and has great scenery, as well as a number of small islands to stop on. Or if you want to get really literal try Amor Lake. Whatever lake you chose it’ll be unique because the two of you went on an adventure to find it!

10) Ripple Rock Trail

More views! The Ripple Rock trail is 8km in total, and it is known to be a bit of an uphill grind however the pay off is worth it. After you and your sweetheart reach the top, you will be rewarded with views of the Seymour Narrows. The dramatic swirling currents and the view over to Quadra Island make for a great spot to snap that unforgettable engagement pic!
